After breakfast, leave to
Nimes, also known as the little “Rome of France” where you get to see the beautiful architecture, the Roman amphitheatre and the “Maison Carrée”. Through the gardens “Jardin de la Fontaine”, arrive to Tour Magne and Castellum, which used to distribute the water coming from the Pont du Gard bridge. Later, head to visit the
Pont du Gard, a beautiful and historical masterwork of Roman architecture. Finally, discover
Avignon, its historical
Palace of the Popes from the 14th century, its famous bridge, and its cathedral. Enjoy a stroll through the small streets of the old-town, before going back to your hotel for dinner.
- DAY 3 – Aix-en-Provence & Cassis
Distance: about 280 km
After breakfast, take off to
Aix-en-Provence, city of the Impressionists, which inspired many great artists such as Cezanne or the writer Emile Zola. Have a stroll through the beautiful old city centre and enjoy shopping some typical products of Provence. After some free time, head to
Cassis by the Mediterranean Sea, where you enjoy a boat excursion in the breath-taking fjords, with their white cliffs up to 400m above the turquoise waters. Finally, have some free time to visit the small old-town and port, before going back to your hotel for dinner.
- DAY 4 – Lavender & Gordes
Distance: about 110 km
After breakfast, leave to a
lavender farm, where you get to learn more about the production of this perfumed plant and its many properties. After the visit, drive further to the picturesque village of
Gordes. Situated on a hill, it is famous for its
craftmen works. With your guide, enjoy a one-and-half hour walk around the burg, to learn all the essentials about Gordes and admire the stunning surrounding panorama. Later, visit a quarry of the typical
ochre stones, before enjoying a
wine tasting and heading back to your hotel for dinner.
- DAY 5 – Marseille & its islands
Distance: about 210 km
After breakfast, head directly to the main city of Southern France.
Marseille is also the oldest port of the country. There, you get to see the cathedral Notre-Dame de La Garde, the famous Vieux Port and a pretty view on the Chateau d´If from the Alexandre Dumas roman. In the afternoon, a boat takes you to the
Frioul islands, where you can enjoy a beautiful panorama on Marseille, and a stroll along the cliffs and creeks. Don´t forget to bring your swimsuit, if you travel there in the summer.
